Galenica mourns the loss of Dr. Andreas Walde

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. iur. Andreas Walde, a long-standing member of the Board of Directors of Galenica Ltd., following a prolonged and severe illness.

Dr. Andreas Walde, a member of the Board of Directors of Galenica Ltd., passed away on 11 December after a long and serious illness. On behalf of the entire company, the Chairman of the Board, Markus Neuhaus, expressed heartfelt condolences to Andreas Walde’s family.

“With Andreas Walde, we have lost a highly esteemed colleague and a wonderful person”, said Markus Neuhaus. “His tireless commitment to Galenica, even up to shortly before his passing, deeply moved us all. His humanity and tremendous passion for his work will remain forever in our memories. We will all miss Andi dearly.”

Long-standing commitment to Galenica

After completing his studies at the University of Basel and obtaining the Swiss attorney’s licence, Andreas Walde spent over 30 years in various legal and management roles within international chemical and pharmaceutical companies. His career included positions at Roche, Clariant, Petroplus and Vifor Pharma.

From 2013 to 2022, Andreas Walde served as General Secretary of Vifor Pharma. Since Galenica’s listing on the stock market in 2017, he had served as a member of our Board of Directors, including roles on the Audit and Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee. For an extended period, he also chaired the latter.
